EVALUATION OF UTOPIA

Utopia is ideal society that created and not real an it means ‘no where’. Actualization of utopias is imposible. Utopia is result of dissatisfaction. There are two kind of utopia such as eutopia and dystopia. Eutopia is positive utopias. There is no law and lawyer. There is no inequality between poor and rich people. However dystopia is not positive. It expresses oppressive society.
Also there is utopia in architecture since ancient times. The utopian projects generally include changing and modifying cities, ideal order and life. These ‘ideal city’ ideas are not just an idea. They affected future of architecture. For example, in 20th century Le Corbusier, Frank Lloyd Wright and Ebenezerr Howard had some ide about ideal city and utopia. They tried to reat ideal city against problems of industrial cities. Urbans became complicated and crowded with industrialization. As a result of this, many social and economical problems occured. Le corbusier wanted to combine industry and daily life. He planed a big city with tall buildings and parks. On the other hand, Frank Lloyd didn’t want industrial city. He wanted to combine urban and rural. Howard wanted to create big gardens. He tried to balance between nature and city life. Howard succeeded to build his project in England. As a result, these utopias affected each other and All ideas of utopia was same.
Nowadays, utopias changed with the development of technology. Industry is in the cities. Cities are more crowded. There are skyscraper in everywhere. Therefore, today’s utopia is rural. People want to escape from the chaos of citiy. However, this will be not possible in the future. Because, nowadays high buildings are built in rural areas and gren areas are destroyed.
